New Delhi: Major Raghunath Ahlawat of the Indian Army was martyred after slipping into a deep gorge during an anti-infiltration operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector on Thursday. The 34-year-old Late Major Raghunath Ahlawat was leading his team in an anti-infiltration operation based on credible intelligence inputs.
According to news agency ANI, Indian Army officials issued a statement in this regard saying, “He led from the front while reconnaissance on a route through a steep cliff to identify a safe approach for the team. Unfortunately “He slipped due to bad weather and slippery conditions and fell into a ravine at a distance of 60 meters. He was taken to the nearest Army Hospital with serious injuries, but died on the way.”
It is noteworthy that the army paid tribute to the martyr Major in a ceremony organized under the leadership of Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen DP Pandey at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar. Let us tell you that Major Ahlawat had joined the army in 2012 and was a resident of Dwarka, New Delhi. His family consists of his wife and his parents.
The body of Martyr Major Raghunath Ahlawat was taken to his native place for last rites, where he will be cremated with full military honours.
