New Delhi: Just days after buying social media giant Twitter, Elon Musk has announced a new target, Coca-Cola. Musk tweeted that he would buy a multinational beverage corporation ‘to bring back cocaine’.
“I’m buying Coca-Cola to bring back cocaine,” Musk wrote on Twitter.
Coca Cola is a carbonated soft drink. It is manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company, headquartered in Atlanta.
Only Musk knows whether he is joking or not. The Tesla founder is known for occasionally joking around on his Twitter timeline. His tweets often spark debate on various issues, including free speech.
Earlier in the day, Musk tweeted that he wants to buy McDonald’s and “fix all the ice cream machines”. “Listen, I can’t do miracles, okay,” Musk wrote on his first McDonald’s tweet this morning.
Elon Musk and Twitter deal
On Monday, Elon Musk struck a deal to buy Twitter for about $44 billion. The outspoken Tesla CEO has said he wants to own and privatize Twitter, as he feels it does not live up to its potential as a platform for free speech.
Musk said in a joint statement with Twitter that he wants to make the service “better than ever” with new features while making its algorithms open to the public to get rid of automated “spam” accounts and build trust.
Musk’s more pragmatic approach to content moderation has many users concerned that the platform will become a haven for disinformation, hate speech, and bullying, which it has worked hard to reduce in recent years. If that goes too far, Wall Street analysts said it could alienate advertisers as well.
