Nepal bans import of many luxury items
Seeing the deepening of the economic crisis, the government of Nepal has banned the import of many luxury items. In order to save the country’s foreign exchange reserves from being empty, the government has taken this decision. The ban will remain in force till mid-July.
The 10 items banned by the Nepal government include cigarettes and tobacco related products, diamonds, mobile phones, color televisions with large 32-inch screen, vehicles other than ambulances, motorcycles above 250 cc, all toys, Wine and cards are included. However, Nepal’s Ministry of Commerce has said that this ban will not be effective on importers who complete the banking process before April 30.
