Mohapatra said the target is to take it to 60 per cent in the next few years and increase the tax-GDP ratio to 15 per cent from the current 12 per cent in the next 15 years. The CBDT chairman said over 7.14 crore I-T returns were filed for 2021-22 on the e-filing portal, while over 6.97 crore were filed for 2020-21. In the financial year 2021-22 up to May 31, 2021, refunds amounting to Rs 2.24 lakh crore were issued.
