Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is once again taking a direct fight with the central government. Mamta has spoken against the BSF jawans. Mamta instructed the Superintendent of Police of Cooch Behar district and said that you should not allow BSF to enter within 50 km from the border. By amending the BSF Act, the Union Home Ministry had increased the Jurisdiction of the BSF within 15 to 50 km of the Bangladesh and Pakistan border. Mamta has opposed this decision.
Mamata Banerjee said that BSF is entering villages and killing people and throwing them on the other side in Bangladesh. BSF should not be allowed to do all this. They are being shot in the name of cattle smugglers and dumped in other areas of the state, he said. I have seen many such cases.
He also raised questions on the work of BSF in the state. He said that the BSF, which comes under the Central Government, smuggles cows across the International Border and the blame falls on the Bengal Police. That’s why I told the state police to stop BSF.
Mamata Banerjee said her government has spent Rs 1,500 crore in the last three years to subsidize petrol and diesel prices in the state. PM Modi raised questions about high fuel prices in opposition-ruled states like Maharashtra, Kerala and West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee’s conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today was completely one-sided and misleading. The facts shared by him were wrong, he said. We are giving a subsidy of Re 1 on every liter of petrol and diesel for the last three years.
