Pune: Commenting on the stellar performance of Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler in the ongoing IPL 2022, former England captain Kevin Pietersen said he has no words to praise the exploding batsman. Buttler has been in blazing form in the league, scoring 491 runs in seven innings at an average of 81.83 and a strike rate of 161.51 with three centuries against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals as the top scorer in the tournament.
Pietersen said on cricket live show on Star Sports, “IPL is made incredible by these kind of innings. The audience love it, we also love watching such innings. I mean Buttler played some such shots, Which you’ll want to watch over and over again.”
“Buttler is batting so brilliantly. When he bats in such an explosive manner, sometimes all you have to say is he took his time and played a great innings,” Pietersen said.
In Rajasthan’s last match against Delhi at the Wankhede Stadium, Buttler again played a stellar knock, hitting nine fours and as many sixes in his 65-ball 116 to take Rajasthan to 222/2. Rajasthan is set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Tuesday. Pietersen has backed Butler to bat well in the tournament.
India leg-spinner Piyush Chawla agreed with Pietersen’s comment on Butler.
“It’s half the tournament so far and Buttler has already scored 490 runs. Normally, people score so many runs throughout the season. He has been batting very well this season,” he said.
