New Delhi: Before the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, a big success is going to be registered in the account of Jai Ram Thakur government regarding Hati community. It is believed that in the assembly elections, BJP can directly benefit from this in many assembly seats of the state. Speaking to the media at Himachal Bhawan in the capital Delhi on Tuesday, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur claimed that the Hati community, residing in the Giripar area of Sirmaur district of the state, may soon get the status of a tribal community. He claimed that with the efforts of the state government, all the problems faced in relation to this decades-old demand have been removed. Referring to the meeting held on Monday with Home Minister Amit Shah, he claimed that Hati community would be given tribal status soon after completing all the necessary formalities in this matter.
Jai Ram Thakur told that the Giripar region of Himachal Pradesh and Jaunsar Bawar of Uttarakhand used to be part of the princely state of Sirmaur before independence. After independence, Jaunsar Bawar of Uttarakhand has got the status of a tribe in 1967, but the Hati community of Himachal Pradesh is continuously fighting for it.
According to the Chief Minister, according to the population of the year 2011, the population of Hati community in the state was around 2.51 lakh, which has increased to three lakh at present. The major impact of getting tribal status to this community is believed to be bound to fall on four assembly constituencies of the state – Shillai, Paonta, Sahib, Renuka and Pachhad. Apart from this, the Hati community also plays a big role in the electoral victory and defeat in five other assembly seats – Nahan, Solan, Shimla, Shimla Rural and Chaupal, including the state capital Shimla.
Responding to a question regarding this decision in the election year, Jai Ram Thakur said that the BJP had first raised the issue of giving tribal status to the Hati community in its manifesto in 2009. From that time till today, BJP has been raising this issue continuously. He said that the BJP had also met the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding this demand and after coming to power, he made constant efforts at the government level, removed all the obstacles and technical difficulties and now this decades old demand will be fulfilled soon. going to happen.
