New Delhi: According to sources, the Drug Controller General of India has given Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Biologicals E’s Corbevax Restricted Emergency Use Authorization for children in the age group of 5-12 years. Also ZycovD (Zydus Cadila Vaccine) is approved for children over 12 years of age.
According to sources, this development comes after the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI)’s Subject Expert Committee (SEC) asked Bharat Biotech for additional data on its COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, for children aged 2-12 years. was asked to administer it.
However, the SEC, after a meeting on Thursday, recommended a restricted emergency use of Corbevax, a Covid-19 vaccine from Biologicals E, in children aged 5-12 years. Now DCGI has also approved its emergency use authorization.
The Corbevax vaccine is currently being offered to children aged 12-14 years. The vaccination drive for children in the age group of 15-18 years began on January 3 this year. He is being given Covaxin.
The campaign later expanded on March 16 to include children in the age group of 12-14 years. He is being given Corbevax. In all, India is currently administering two COVID-19 vaccines to children above 12 years of age.
