New Delhi: With 2,483 new coronavirus infections reported in a day, India’s total active cases rose to 15,636, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.
According to the data updated in the morning, the death toll has risen to 5,23,622 with 1,399 fresh deaths. At the same time, with the recovery of 1970 people in the last 24 hours, the number of people recovering from this epidemic in the country has increased to 4,25,23,311.
The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent.
According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.84 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 0.54 percent.
The number of people recovering from the disease increased to 4,25,23,311, while the death rate stood at 1.21 percent.
Under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the cumulative dose administered in the country so far has reached 1,87,95,76,423. In the last 24 hours, 22,83,224 people were vaccinated with corona while 4,49,197 people were tested for corona.
India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh mark on 7 August, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September.
It crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.
The country crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4 and 30 million on June 23 last year.
The ministry insisted that over 70 per cent of the deaths were due to co-morbidities.
