What potential does the final phase of the Fortuna League offer? What do Czechs bet on the most and how did Hradec Králové’s hesitation in Slavia move with the odds? The water carriers invited Roman Kovařík, a sports expert of the betting office Fortuna, to the studio.
The Fortuna League joined many European competitions in the 2019/2020 season, adding a game superstructure system to the classic program, in which individual clubs compete for the title, cup standings and also to stay among the elite.
League to the young
While the spectators’ interest in the top hockey playoffs is materialized by sold-out stadiums, the football superstructure has not attracted so much interest and managed to find many critics. At the same time, it is already clear that the Fortuna League finals will take place in the same format next season.
In a new episode, the water carriers debated whether the new system was important for the business of the betting office Fortuna – the main partner of the entire competition.
“It simply came to our notice then. In addition, those five rounds provide us with extra bets from punters. Of course, it depends on how it turns out as a result – we can go to the plus or the minus. The truth is that there are a lot of variables in the betting business. One of them is a condensed calendar, which can come hand in hand with the introduction of a superstructure. For example, less is bet on rounds played on weekdays. The same applies to rounds that have the kick-off of all matches on the program at the same time, which awaits us, for example, during the last matches of the final, “says Roman Kovařík.
“A kind of football play-off is being introduced in Europe. I perceive such a tendency to a certain extent as a struggle of other competitions against the European top five. Someone came up with the idea how to diversify the whole competition, try to dramatize it and revive the audience. Theoretically, people should be interested, but so far it doesn’t look like that, “comments Luděk Mádl, a football expert in the Connexionblog.
Although the bookmaker has a better chance of winning with an increasing number of matches, Roman Kovařík spoke in favor of the traditional league model in the podcast, where the basic playing part takes place in the classic league form, ie everyone with everyone at home and away:
“I am also in favor of expanding the league to 18 teams, mainly due to young people from 17 to 21, who could theoretically get more space. They are not so active in the Czech league at the moment. At the same time, the best young footballers all over the world usually play the highest competitions. It is also the best selling item. Czech football could gain more funding in this way. “
Who do Czechs support the most?
In a special episode, the water carriers also searched for the betting tendencies of the Czechs. “Over 10 million are bet on one round of the Fortuna League as part of pre-match activities. To this we add about 5 million from ‘live’ bets. I would bet the total bet amount at 15 million in one round. The Fortuna League is one of the most popular competitions, but it is still behind the Champions League, the English Premier League or the Overseas NHL. These competitions are even better. They are the most watched and supply the spectators with a high number of matches, “describes Roman Kovařík.
According to him, fanfare is significantly reflected in the betting tendencies of the Czechs: “For example, many people cannot bet against the club of their hearts. This is especially evident in the European Cups, when they bet on Czech teams even against favorites. In the league, they bet a little more common sense, for winning and earning. In addition, in this case, people are more informed, which is one of the keys to successful betting. “
Water carriers have also learned that Czech bettors trust Slavia the most in the long run. Why? What package did Fortunna’s unexpected stumble stitching up with Hradec bring? What is the current form of Pilsen and Sparta? And why can’t Sparta perform at home and abroad in the long run? You will also hear about it in the home part of the podcast.
In the foreign section Water Carriers, he evaluates another clash of English big clubs, this time between Arsenal and Manchester United. Why did Ronald’s arrival delay the United season? How much does the Czechs bet that Gunner Patrik Schick will succeed in the German Bundesliga? And what would be the course for Robert Lewandowski to leave Bayern Munich in the summer? The betting window includes a preview of the semifinal duels of the Champions League and the Sunday hit of the Fortuna League between Slavia and Pilsen.
