New Delhi: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the Assam Police has busted several modules of banned terror outfits Ansarul Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
Sarma tweeted, “In a long-running operation, Assam Police has cracked down on Ansarul Bangla Team/Al-Qaeda in Assam on several modules of the Indian subcontinent.”
The Chief Minister has described the police operation as a great success of intelligence and an example of courage.
Sarma said it was a major intelligence breakthrough and a true example of the courage and dedication of Assam Police. At the same time, he also clarified that a total of 16 arrests have been made so far in the police action.
Some of the prime accused arrested by the Assam Police include Mufti Saiful Islam (Bangladeshi National), Imran Hussain, Naushad Ali, Khairul Islam, Badshah Suleiman, Mamunur Rashid, Mufti Suleman Ali, Saddam Hussain, Mokibul Hussain.
Sharing the names of the accused, the Assam Police said that they will continue their operation against the terror module.
Assam Police tweeted, “Thank you Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his continued guidance in the fight against AQIS and Ansarul Bangla. We are committed to completely eliminate these terror modules. We will continue our offensive.”
