Lakhimpur KheriAshish Mishra alias Monu, the son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni and the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, surrendered in the judicial magistrate’s court on Sunday. Mishra has been sent to jail by the police. On April 18, the Supreme Court canceled Ashish Mishra’s bail and ordered him to surrender within a week.
During the hearing, the apex court set aside the Allahabad High Court’s order granting bail to Mishra and said, “The High Court has exceeded its jurisdiction, depriving the victims of their right to participate in the proceedings.” Let us inform that the time of surrender given to Ashish Mishra by the Supreme Court was ending tomorrow i.e. on 25 April. It is believed that in view of the crowd in the court on Monday, the first day of the week, the main accused surrendered on Sunday itself.
Ashish Mishra and Lakhimpur Kheri case
The main accused in the violence that broke out in Lakhimpur Kheri area of Uttar Pradesh in October 2021 is Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.
Mishra crushed farmers protesting against three agricultural laws of the Center with his vehicle before an event in Tikunia. Four farmers were killed in this incident. Mishra was arrested on 9 October and was granted bail in February 2022.
Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the violence that broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri ahead of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit on October 3. A journalist was also killed in this.
