New Delhi, April 21. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is on a two-day visit to India, met industrialist Gautam Adani on Thursday. The meeting took place at the global headquarters of the Adani Group in Shantigram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city. Adani later tweeted that I am honored to host Boris Johnson, the first UK PM to visit Gujarat, at Adani Headquarters. Adani expressed happiness in supporting the climate and sustainability agenda with a focus on renewable energy, green H2 and new energy. He also said in the tweet that he will also work with UK companies to co-create defense and aerospace technologies.

According to the Economic Times report, sources have said that Adani and Johnson discussed key areas such as energy transition, climate action, aerospace and defense cooperation. India is set to invest $300 billion by 2030 to modernize its armed forces. Cooperation in the defense sector was one of the major focus areas of the meeting between Adani and Johnson.
Atmanirbhar India in focus
Discussions also took place between the two on how the Adani Group and British companies can collaborate to co-design and develop aerospace and defense technologies under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. Adani also announced an academic facilitation program for young Indians through the Chevening Scholarship, one of the most prestigious international scholarships offered by the UK government. Adani has also invited the British Prime Minister to the India-UK Climate Science and Technology Summit to be held in London on 28 June. The Adani Group chairman met Johnson at the Global Investment Summit in London in October last year, where the two reiterated their commitment to the ongoing transition to clean energy.
