A former participant of the singing reality show Indian Idol and a two-time national level gold medalist Taekwondo player has been arrested by the Delhi Police for snatching and dacoity in West Delhi. Arrested for his involvement in more than 100 cases. The accused has been identified as Suraj alias ‘Fighter’, a resident of Vikas Nagar in Uttam Nagar.
Giving more information in this matter, the police said that this is not the first time. This former participant of Indian Idol and former Taekwondo player is active in this work since the year 2017. Suraj alias ‘Fighter’ is accused of being involved in more than 12 robberies.
Actually, police was patrolling in Delhi’s Moti Nagar area when they saw a suspicious person on a scooter, after which the person was stopped. A senior police officer said that when the police investigated, it was found that the scooter was stolen from Kirti Nagar area.
Police said that during interrogation, the accused confessed to snatching several mobile phones and looting 2.5 kg gold from Sabzi Mandi police station area of North Delhi. He carried out the robbery along with his two accomplices using a country-made pistol and a knife on a motorcycle.
Giving more details on the matter, the officials said that the accused confessed to more than 100 snatchings in different parts of Delhi, especially in West, Outer, Central and North districts. Police said that a country-made pistol, one live cartridge, 55 mobile phones and five two-wheelers have been recovered from the accused.
Police said that Suraj has graduated from Delhi University. He is a two-time national gold medalist in Taekwondo. The accused participated in Indian Idol Season 4 in the year 2008 and was included in the top 50 contestants.
