Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly Tejashwi Yadav attacked the state’s Nitish Kumar government on Tuesday, claiming that crime has doubled during the NDA’s tenure as compared to Lalu Prasad’s 15-year rule. He said that Lalu Prasad’s rule was propagated as “Jungle Raj” but the figures clearly show whose rule was “Jungle Raj”. Tejashwi, in his address, presented the NCRB’s statistics of Lalu Prasad’s 15-year rule between 1990 and 2005 and 13 years of NDA rule thereafter. He said that when Lalu Prasad took over the reins of the state, the number of cognizable offenses in the year 1990 was 1,24,414 and the number came down to 1,15,598. The RJD leader said that Bihar was 23rd in the country in terms of crime in the year 2000 and this number further reduced to 97,850 when Lalu Prasad left power in 2005 but in 2010 the number of cases increased to 1,27,453 and In 2015 and 2018 the number increased to 1,76,000 and 1,96,911 respectively.

He said, “This shows that the false propaganda of Jungle Raj was started against Lalu Prasad, whereas the figures show something else.
