The new numbers of corona patients in Maharashtra are alarming. Against this background, it is necessary to maintain a sense of social responsibility. Therefore, it has been decided to postpone the state-wide agitation on February 24 for recovery of electricity bills and farmers’ issues, informed BJP state general secretary and former energy minister Chandrasekhar Bavankule.
Speaking at a press conference here to provide more information in this regard, Chandrasekhar Bavankule said that the BJP had called for a statewide jail-wide agitation on February 24 on the issue of farmers and the issue of increased electricity bills. BJP MLAs, MPs, all people’s representatives were to participate in the agitation at about 500 to 550 places in the state. All the office bearers in the district, all the leaders of BJP Maharashtra were to lead this agitation. The agitation was planned at all the planned places. It was planned that about 50,000 victims and BJP workers would go to jail.
However, at the request of the Chief Minister and considering the situation in the state, it has been decided to postpone the agitation considering some restrictions of Kovid 19, said Chandrasekhar Bavankule.

The energy minister had promised to provide free electricity to the people up to 100 units and to waive electricity bills for April, May, June and July during the Corona period. He also promised to rectify the unreasonable electricity bills sent during the lockdown. Instead of fulfilling any of these promises, orders have been issued to recover the exorbitant electricity bills. Notices have been sent to millions of customers for disconnection.
On the other hand, instead of providing adequate financial assistance to the farmers affected by heavy rains, floods and unseasonal rains, notices have been sent to the farmers to cut off the power supply to recover the electricity bills. Even though our agitation was postponed, the government should hold an urgent meeting and demand suspension of power cuts, Rs 25,000 per acre assistance to farmers affected by heavy rains and floods, said Bavankule in a press release.
