The 1973 film, ‘Zanjeer’ played an important role in establishing Amitabh Bachchan in Bollywood. His name was attached to this film with the tag of ‘Angry Young Man’ which was well liked by the youth of the time. But this character of Amitabh was not the one who played Dharmendra. If his sister did not stop Dharmendra by swearing, the ‘Zanjeer’ film would probably be famous today as Dharmendra. Dharmendra had even bought this story from writer Salim Khan, but circumstances changed so much that he had to lose his life from the film. Dharmendra is still regretful about this, although he is also happy for Amitabh Bachchan.
In Rajat Sharma’s show, ‘Aapki Adalat’, Dharmendra told the reason behind leaving the film, ‘I am happy to leave the film and there is a lot of sorrow. Sad because I bought that film from Salim Khan for seventeen and a half thousand. I had that film with me. At the same time I did the film Samadhi with Prakash Mehra (director of Zanjeer).
Dharmendra told that Prakash Mehra liked the story very much and took the film from him. He added, ‘We have a cousin sister who made a grumpy film. He had once approached Prakash Mehra for a film and he refused. My sister gave me such an oath about this, if you do this film, it will happen. Tied me in emotional bondage. Dharmendra told that his family also stopped him from doing that film.
Let me tell you, Dharmendra was recently seen in the grand finale of Bigg Boss 14 show. He came to congratulate the winner and the rest of the contestants on this show. Salman Khan and Dharmendra together recreated a scene in the film Sholay where Dharmendra had both hands tied. During this, Dharmendra also spoke to Rubina and Abhinav and said that he should never leave his wife’s company, rather he should love her more than she loves him.
Dance and performance in Dharmendra’s Bigg Boss 14 was well received by his fans. Dharmendra also misses no chance to join his fans. He shared a post on his Twitter account today, on which his fans got worried.
