New Delhi. The stock market dived badly on the first day of the trading week on Monday. The market was under pressure since morning. By midday, pressure increased so much that all major indices closed on the red mark.
On Monday, the 30-share Sensex fell 1,145.44 points to close at 49,744.32. The 50-share Nifty of the NSE fell 306.05 points to close at 14,675.70. The Sensex has fallen below the 50,000 mark after almost three weeks. The market cap of listed companies fell by Rs 4.1 lakh crore to Rs 199.88 lakh crore on Friday due to all-round selling, from Rs 203.98 lakh crore on Friday.

Talking about global markets, there was not much good news from there either. Europe’s stock markets opened in the afternoon with a heavy fall. FTSE Cessanx of Britain, CS of France and DAX of Germany have also declined.
