The new phone, called “Mate X2”, sheds light on the challenges facing Huawei after Washington cut off access to US processor chips and Google services.
Last year, Huawei slipped from the best-selling global smartphone brand to sixth place.
The company said that the new phone, its third foldable phone, has clearer images and better sound for movies and games. The phone works on the most advanced processor chip from Huawei, which is the “Kirin 9000”.
Huawei, the first global technology brand in China, was slapped by the blacklisting of exports by former US President Donald Trump in 2019 as a security risk, an accusation the company denies.
