new Delhi. Telecom regulator TRAI has given approval for the change in the number of mobile numbers from 15 January. Under this new rule, it would be mandatory to dial zero before calling a cellphone from any landline.
This will now replace the dialer number 10 with 11 digits. It is worth noting that till now calls are made without a zero from the fixed line, but after the implementation of this new rule, zero will be mandatory. Apart from this, the telecom department has also directed to give the details of the series of mobile numbers allotted.
It is noteworthy that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India made a proposal on 29 May 2020 to change the dialing pattern of mobile number, which has been approved by the Department of Telecom. According to the Telecom Regulatory TRAI, the change in dialing pattern will increase the availability of 2,544 million additional mobile numbers that Telecom will use in the future.
The new National Numbering Plan was also included in the proposal made by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
