Internet desk. A major action was taken by the Customs Department at Sanganer International Airport in Jaipur on Wednesday. During this, a female passenger is caught while illegally smuggling gold. The woman used a different method of smuggling gold in which the gold was smelted into a paste.
The weight of gold seized from the woman is stated to be 590 grams. Its price in the international market is estimated to be around 30 lakh rupees. The woman has been arrested and is being questioned. This is the second action at Jaipur airport within the first 12 days of the year 2021, when the custom has illegally caught a passenger carrying gold.
According to the Customs Department, a 44-year-old female resident of Mumbai hid the gold in a secret pocket made in her undergarment in a flight from Sharjah to Jaipur. When the investigation into custom clearance was suspected, the woman found a gold paste in a plastic pouch from her. At that time its weight was about 637 grams, but later when the paste was processed and converted into goldbar, the pure gold came out to be about 592 grams after the waste was separated.
