Guwahati. A jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF) Guwahati Frontier has been injured in an attack by cattle smugglers in the international border area of the Indo-Bangladesh border in South Salamara-Manakchar district of Assam.
The BSF, Guwahati Frontier has reported on Wednesday that the incident took place in the Border Out Post (BoP) Deepchar area of 06 Battalion of BSF Guwahati Frontier in South Salamara-Manakchar district of Assam while on duty. The Duty Party saw a group of 20–25 animal smugglers on either side of the international border, trying to smuggle cattle from India to Bangladesh, taking advantage of the fog and poor visibility.
The BSF jawan challenged him but the smugglers became aggressive. The smugglers surrounded the jawan while on duty and attacked him with bamboo poles and sharp-edged cleaver. During the scuffle, one of the smugglers attacked a BSF jawan ie Vikash Kumar with a bamboo stick, which injured the jawan. The jawan suffered a head injury in the attack. After the attack, the smugglers managed to escape, taking advantage of the dense fog. After the first aid, the jawan was sent to the nearest PHC Gajarkandi, Kukuramara FIR Health Center. The young man has two stitches in his head. The condition of the young is stable after treatment. Police has registered an FIR in this regard.
