Agartala. In Tripura, the police have arrested four militants on the basis of confidential information. A large quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the militants. One of the arrested militants is a cadre member of the Assam militant group.
Police sources said that four militants were arrested on Tuesday morning. The militants have been arrested from Arjun Thakurpara under Takarjala Thana of Jampuijala sub-division of Sipahijala district. The militants have been identified as Lalthanga Reang (28), a resident of Bhandarima under Anand Bazar police station, Jiban Reang (38), a resident of Daiganga under Khedachara police station, Gangaram Reang of Fuldungshi and Singhanni Reang of Hailakandi district in Assam. Gangaram Reang is a self-proclaimed lieutenant of the NLFT.
A 9 mm pistol from the militants, a Point 22 mm pistol, a Point 22 mm magazine, 17 rounds of live cartridges, 20 receipts of donations, 2 SIM cards of foreign Teletalk company, a SIM card of domestic company Airtel , A SIM card of the Jio company, 3 keyboards mobile phones, an Android mobile, a mobile charger, Rs 730 cash and a small diary have been recovered.
Police has registered an FIR in this regard at Takarajala police station. However, the arrest of a member of the militant group in Hailakandi has proved true for Tripura Director General of Police VS Yadav. He said that various militant groups of the Northeast are coming together.
