Chandigarh, January 10 (Trinue)
Randeep Singh Surjewala, National General Secretary of the Congress and chairman of the media department, has termed the Kisan Mahapanchayat as a government mahapanchayat in Kamla, Karnal. He also accused the Khattar government of conspiring to spoil law and order by playing with the feelings and sentiments of the farmer feeders. In a statement released from Chandigarh on Sunday, Surjewala said that the Chief Minister should stop pretending to be a government mahapanchayat.
He said, If the CM has to communicate, then he should do with the Annadata who has been staging the borders for the last 46 days. Now before making the pretense of Kisan Mahapanchayat, the government should remember the day when an attempt was made to stop the farmers traveling to Delhi on the Haryana border. Surjewala said that the BJP government has nothing to do with farmers. The government is busy with event-only.
The Congress leader said that despite all the efforts of Khattar and BJP, the situation in Kamla survived from being a soldier versus a farmer. He said, this is the first time in history when the Chief Minister has faced such a strong opposition in his electoral district within a quarter and a half of the second term. He said that the Chief Minister was saying that the farmers would remain through Mahapanchayat. Now they must have understood that the real food provider is on the streets.
Surjewala said that farmers are not afraid of water canon or tear gas. He said that it is time for BJP and Khattar to wake up. While giving advice to the coalition government, Surjewala said, remember, it will be impossible to leave your house without police. Do not scare the farmers. Do not take away their life, livelihood.
